I had read this rooftop restaurant reviews with the views of Duomo and so when I could not get a ticket to the top of Duomo tower on my last day in Firenze (Florence), I decided to check it out and I am so glad I did. On my way to the roof-top, I checked out 160 Euro corduroys, 500 Euro Bangladesh leather jackets and 350 Euro Christian brand perfumes- wondering about Italy's economy and store's management.Their Milan store was registering revenue of €130m in 05, just over ten years later, it generated €350m in revenue (an increase of 250%). Are you listening Nordstrom, Macy's..
I was lucky to get seating with Duomo, in the backdrop and took some great pictures. I wanted to try local brew and waitress suggested amaro di toscana by Santoni-dark and rich in color featuring a spicy scent with particularly strong aromatic notes that are typically characteristic of the Tuscany region. It's texture was full-bodied - supple with a pleasant bitter aftertaste. This is usually served after a meal straight up as a mellow digestive since it has 27 medicinal herbs or as a conversational drink. It was followed by Grappa Chianti (concentrated white wine).
Server was super busy but attentive. I ordered lasagnette or lasagna pasta with cianti ragu. Cheese-pasta and Ragu in perfect harmony. It was the best lasagna I had. Total damage about 24 Euros - but absolutely worth every Euro cent. And smokers can smoke as in most Italian restaurants.
So whether you shop at La Rinascente or not, when in Firenze or Milano you must try their rooftop restaurants bang opposite Duomos. -

Great place for the view and drinks. It is on the top of a department store so it closes early. We wanted an early quick dinner with exhausted kids and were able to grab the last 4 paninis. It isn't really a dinner place. Once the food runs out, it runs out. But I recommend for a glass of wine before you head to dinner elsewhere. It's a small balcony and there isn't a bad table.

This one isn't easy to find as need to go up the escalators through the department store and then take a separate staircase to reach the top floor.
This spot is popular only because it is one of the few restaurant rooftop terraces available in the city of Florence. This very small limited menu is overpriced, but hey, you're paying the price of admission for the beautiful 360 degree views.
Cocktails are 9 euro here (4 euro is much more in line everywhere else) but you will get a little plate of snacks for your table consisting of some pesto and/or tapenade.
Didn't think there was enough here to make it special to warrant the extra cost as there are prettier views from other venues. -

Amazing spot is enjoy brunch in the afternoon. You get a great view of Florence. I wouldn't say it is as "hidden" as Yelp suggests though, considering how crowded the place is. There is a downstairs section too, but it's indoors and you don't get to enjoy the nice view and weather. The food here is pretty good too. I got the riso, which was rice with a tomato sauce and feta cheese. It was delicious. Perfectly sauced. My boyfriend got their ricotta and spinach ravioli in butter, which was good too. We both shared a caffe freddo, which was phenomenal! We ordered this drink at other places and couldn't find another one as good as this. I wish I could replicate it and bring it back to the US.
Service wasn't great though. There was one waiter for the entire outdoor patio. ONE. She was swamped during the entire time. I felt bad, but we did have to wait a while to get our order taken and we were starving. They really need to hire another waiter to help out.
One note though: you can't share a table with strangers. This one couple invited us to sit with them when they saw we were waiting for a table. The server told us that we cannot do that unless we plan on being under the same bill and put us somewhere else. -

We visited the La Terrazza on a cool April evening. The view of the surrounding Florence skyline at sunset is beautiful. It was breezy and cool. So be prepared. The food was delicious and all our party of four liked their food. My wife's Lasagna was excellent. I had the grilled fish, and it was very good. Fresh and served hot. Our waiter was great and funny. Would definitely come back again. Prices were very reasonable.
